Position Details:

  • Shift: PRN Nights
  • Hours: 12-hour shifts (7pm-7am)

Job Summary:

  • Evaluates assigned patients and plans, implements and documents nursing care.
  • Assists physicians during examinations and procedures.
  • Triages patients.
  • Performs various patient tests and administers medications within the scope of practice of the registered nurse.
  • Promotes patients' independence by establishing patient care goals and teaching patients and families to understand conditions, medications, and self-care skills.
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Performs a variety of tasks.
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
  • Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department.

Qualifications:

  • Active RN license in the state of Texas.
  • 2+ years of OB / Labor and Delivery experience required .
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
  • Must have a license to practice professional nursing in the state of Texas .
  • ACLS, BLS, AWHONN fetal monitoring, NRP, STABLE required.
  • Experience using: Fetal monitor (CPN), EMR (MT), pulse oximeter, Panda warmer.

The Assistant Director of Nursing is responsible for upholding the standards of nursing care as established by the Nurse Practice Act, Psychiatric Standards of Nursing, policy and procedures, and all other external governing and credentialing bodies. The Assistant Director of Nursing directs the staff and operation of the Nursing Department at all facility locations; coordinates, plans and manages nursing activities; formulates nursing program goals and objectives; manages nursing positions; evaluates staff; assists in the management of the nursing budget; maintains contacts with individuals both within and outside of the department who might impact on program activities; participates in recruitment and retention programs; determines the quality of nursing care; participates in performance improvement programs; collaborates with clinical instructors for educational programs; represents the Nursing Department in professional and/or community organizations; demonstrates age specific and cultural sensitivity.
