Job Description Performance improvement (PI) is an essential component of a Level I Trauma Center and must be a Registered Nurse . The Trauma PI Specialist works collaboratively with the Trauma Program Manager and Trauma Medical Director on clinical components of the Trauma Program. The Trauma PI Specialist coordinates, participates, and documents trauma performance improvement activities, identifies events, expected outcomes, loop closures and plan of care for trauma patients. This person is responsible for day-to-day performance improvement initiatives surrounding trauma patients and assuring PI compliance with the American College of Surgeon’s criteria for a Level I Trauma Center. Schedule : 20 hours per week, part-time. Responsibilities Coordinates, participates, and documents trauma performance improvement activities, identifies events, expected outcomes, loop closures and plan of care for trauma patients. Collaborates with the Trauma Program Manager and Trauma Director to develop and implement policies, procedures, and care management processes to improve clinical outcomes. Analyzes data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement. Ability to analyze and problem solve independently and disseminate data to relevant groups across the health system. Participates in the preparation and completion of internal and external reports, survey documents and site visits. Ensures the care of the trauma patient complies with current policies and guidelines. Participates in and/or facilitates trauma PI meetings. Acts as a liaison between all hospital departments and the Trauma Program. Assists with Trauma Outreach education as needed. Qualifications Must hold a minimum of BSN; Master’s degree in nursing or public health preferred (or enrolled in such a program). Must have trauma or PI experience: knowledge of trauma registry preferred. The PICU is seeking a CASUAL NIGHTS or ROTATING SHIFT Registered Nurse to join our team in Wilmington, DE. The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of Nemours Children's Health, Delaware is a 24-bed unit in a Level 1 Trauma Center. Patients requiring care and surveillance in the PICU will have conditions and diagnoses which may include, but are not limited to, those producing: acute and reversible loss of consciousness, respiratory failure, compromised air exchange, cardiovascular dysfunction, hepatic failure, hemodynamic instability, renal dysfunction, central nervous system injury or dysfunction, acute trauma and organ failure requiring transplantation. Treatments or interventions performed in the PICU include measures utilizing advanced life support technology. These include, but are not limited to cardiopulmonary resuscitation, tracheal intubation, ECMO, pharmacologic support of circulation, mechanical ventilation, point of care monitoring, CRRT, thoracentesis, and hemodynamic, intracranial pressure, intravascular monitoring. Each patient room has electrocardiographic, pulse oximetry, respiratory, hemodynamic and intracranial pressure monitoring capability, as well as central EKG and respiratory monitoring. Portable monitoring during patient transport is provided. Special equipment includes; radiant warmer beds, heating/cooling blanket systems, Mapleson manual ventilation system, end tidal CO2 monitors, ventilators, hemodynamic monitoring systems, intracranial pressure monitoring system, ventriculostomy systems, infusion pumps, blood warmer, continuous renal replacement systems, and peripheral nerve stimulators. Requirements Be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred. Experienced pediatric intensive care nurse of at least 2 years preferred.
