Overview

We are seeking a Progressive Care Registered Nurse or PCU RN, internally referred to as our Progressive Care Nurse. In the Progressive Care Unit (PCU), the PCU RN or Step-Down RN will provide specialized care to patients with acute and/or chronic medical conditions who require close monitoring, intervention, and support to optimize their outcomes and facilitate their transition to lower levels of care.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to): 

  • Conduct assessments of patients' conditions, including vital signs, cardiac rhythms, neurological status, respiratory status, and overall clinical stability, you will need to monitor changes in patients' conditions and respond promptly to any deterioration 
  • Utilize telemetry and other monitoring devices to continuously monitor patients' cardiac rhythms, oxygen saturation levels, blood pressure, and other parameters you must be able to recognize and interpret abnormalities in monitoring data 
  • Administer medications as directed by physicians, encompassing intravenous medications, antibiotics, pain management medications, and cardiac medications, while vigilantly monitoring patients for any adverse reactions or side effects 
  • Perform nursing interventions and treatments as ordered by physicians, such as wound care, catheter care, suctioning, and administration of oxygen therapy, which may include assisting with procedures  
  • Adhere to evidence-based practice guidelines, hospital policies, and protocols related to patient care, infection control, and safety

1.Must have current and valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the State. 2.BCLS upon hire and maintain current.

3.Previous Acute Care hospital experience preferred. 4.ACLS within 30 days of hire and maintained current.

Candidate will coordinate the activities for multiple programs to include but not exclusive: total joint, spine, bariatric, cardiac programs. The role will manage the surgical patient through the surgical episode of care and will serve as a single point of contact for the providers of care, patient, and family.
