Your Role as a Pre-Testing RN

As a Pre-Testing Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in preparing patients for their upcoming procedures. You will ensure all pre-admission testing is completed accurately and efficiently while maintaining a high level of patient care and safety.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct pre-surgical phone assessments with patients 7–10 days before their procedure.

  • Schedule in-person pre-admission testing if further evaluation is required.

  • Greet and escort patients to the pre-testing area upon arrival.

  • Verify and ensure accuracy of lab orders, EKGs, and CXRs per physician instructions.

  • Notify Anesthesia and/or Physicians of any abnormal test results and follow through with additional orders as needed.

  • Compile pre-testing results packets and scan documentation into Cerner.

  • Review and confirm next-day surgery schedules, ensuring all necessary test results are available.

  • Maintain positive and professional relationships with hospital staff, physicians, and clinic teams.

  • Utilize strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills to provide top-quality patient care.

Qualifications:

  • Active RN license in the state of Oklahoma.

  • BCLS certification (must be obtained within 90 days of hire if not current).

Norman Regional Health System and Oceans Healthcare have partnered to expand access to behavioral health services in south central Oklahoma through construction of a new, state-of-the-art behavioral hospital. Behavioral Health Center at Porter Health Village, a 48-bed facility, will more that double Norman Regional Health System’s inpatient capacity for adult and senior behavioral health patients and add new services, including an intensive outpatient program and a dedicated geriatric behavioral health unit. The freestanding hospital will be located on the Norman Regional Porter campus and replace the existing 20-bed behavioral health unit. ***We Offer Sponsorships For Registered Nurses*** The Registered Nurse assumes primary leadership accountability and responsibility for milieu management and directing patient care activities of other nursing staff. The Registered Nurse maintains standards of professional nursing practice in accordance with facility policy and procedures, other external governing and credentialing bodies, performance improvement standards, and psychiatric nursing standards. The Registered Nurse assesses the patient utilizing the nursing process to formulate an individualized plan of care for each patient, implements interventions, and evaluates outcomes consistent with policy and appropriate to the current client’s condition, which promote, maintain, and restore physical and mental health, and prevent illness. The Registered Nurse interprets age/disability specific information in response to client population served.
