Supervisor RN Bed Placement (Full Time, Evenings)

Description

Job Summary

Collaborates with Operations Administrator, physicians, nursing units, and NCH leaders to facilitate and supervise the patient admission, transfer, and discharge processes. Rounds the nursing units, monitors and identifies bed availability to support patient throughput, and effectively utilizes inpatient beds. Attends bed control meetings, collects, monitors and analyzes data related to bed availability, daily census, bed control, and throughput. Supports and upholds quality standards of a Magnet designated hospital and Patient Bill of Rights, and practices under the supervision of the Nursing Manager/Director. This role is responsible for direct supervision of the Bed Placement Coordinators. 

Job Specific Duties

  • Collaborates with physicians & healthcare institutions to facilitate the patient admission & transfer processes in accordance with NCHS policies/procedures for timely bed placement. 
  • Supervises and provides clinical oversight of the admission process and assists with the patient transfer process to designated nursing unit.
  • Fosters staff empowerment and open communication, leads and guides staff to build a high performance, and engaged team.  
  • Actively participates in the performance review process of Bed Placement Coordinators. Provides feedback on job performance and makes recommendations to leadership on corrective actions. Prepares and submits in a timely manner all forms and employment status changes to leader. 
  • Participates in bed control meetings, provides updates on patient bed placement, admission, transfer and discharge processes. 
  • Identifies and recommends quality and process improvement initiatives and assists with the development and execution of action plans.
  • Compiles, reconciles, and distributes bed status and throughput reports to designated NCH staff. 
  • Rounds in inpatient units to identify & evaluate inpatient bed availability, facilitate effective utilization of inpatient beds, drive throughput & facilitate admission process. 
  • Accesses electronic health record independently according to hospital policy.
  • Promotes a safe "error free" working environment by consistently performing thorough hand-offs and infection prevention measures. 

Qualifications

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing 
  • RN Licensure within the State of Florida or Multi-State Enhanced Nursing License Compact (eNLC) - maintan active and in good standing throughout employment
  •  American Heart Association BLS - maintain active and in good standing throughtout employment
  • 3-5 years of experience in healthcare bed placement, bed control and throughput

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to supervise non-clinical staff in the placement and transfer of patients.
  • Strong ability to evaluate level of care and safe patient placement.
  • Strong problem solving, critical thinking and conflict resolution skills.
