The Critical Care Transport (CCT) Registered Nurse (RN) will function as primary or secondary caregiver to ensure that each patient receives treatment that is in accordance with all CCT policies and procedures. The CCT RN can give a detailed report to Medical Control to ensure an appropriate plan of care is ordered and carried out. The CCT RN will be able to function as part of a team, assuming the lead role, to ensure the safety of patients and staff. The CCT RN is accountable to the CCT Medical Directors, the CCT Director, CCT Manager and the CCT Clinical Coordinators.

The CCT RN will function as primary or secondary caregiver to ensure that each patient receives treatment that is in accordance with all CCT policies and procedures.
Performs initial and ongoing focused assessments to identify actual, potential and critical changes in the patient’s condition and follows through with appropriate reporting and actions.
Responsible for providing patient care according to department protocol, policies and procedures.
Responsible for communication and documentation necessary for proper patient care.
Is a highly motivated, well-organized individual and has demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Handles multiple tasks and is self-directed.
Possesses efficient skills in respiratory management including intubation and ventilation, IV access, medication administration, code management, & pain management.
Maintains professional composure, thinks clearly, quickly assesses and evaluates situations, organizes thoughts, and responds quickly in emergency and stressful situations and effectively coordinates transport duties.
Communicate with CCT Coordinator regarding any problems or questions pertaining to duties and policies.
Completes special assignments and projects assigned by the CCT Coordinator.
Attends regular safety and staff meetings.
Shares responsibilities for ensuring readiness of and recording all DCH equipment and supplies in accordance with department policies.
Possesses basic computer skills for work related tasks and education.
Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships and communicates clearly with the public, referring facilities, and department personnel.
Can read maps accurately.
Responsible for communication and documentation necessary for proper patient care.
Responsible for communication and documentation necessary for CCT billing.
Responsible for maintaining required number of continuing education hours.
Speaks clearly and concisely over telephone.
Demonstrates business practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines.
Other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
Must have 3 years’ experience in NICU, PICU, Transport, or a combination.
Will obtain national certification within 12 months post orientation.
Will obtain Emergency Medical Technician certificate within 24-month post orientation.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Currently Licensed in the state of Texas as a Registered Nurse.
Maintains AHA cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification and is current upon hire.
Maintain Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification or obtained within 6 months of hire.
Maintain Neonatal Resuscitation Provider certification or obtained within 6 months of hire.
Maintain Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification or obtained within 6 months of hire.
Obtains and maintains National Certification (C-NPT, CFRN, CCRN, RNC-NIC, CTRN) within 1 year post orientation.
Provides proof of personal automobile liability insurance upon hire.
Provides proof of current Texas state driver’s license.
