A caregiver in this position works nights from 6:45PM – 7:15AM. 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Provide direct nursing care. 

  • Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.  

  • Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.  

  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments. 

  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.  

  • Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs. 

  • Educate patients and their families.   

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program) 

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)  

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross 

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or ALS through the American Red Cross within one year of hire 

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within one year of hire 

  • One year of current acute care RN and/or Emergency Department experience. Will consider licensed military RN experience 

  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC - adult) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC - pediatric) upon hire or within 24 months of beginning work in the Emergency Department 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) 

  • Background as an ER tech/EMT/paramedic or completion of ER practicum or preceptorship if a new grad 

  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) and/or Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) Certifications 

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.

  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.

  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

  • Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.

  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.

  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Job Summary and Qualifications As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in line with the requirements of the department and the standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. Collaborating with medical providers and the care team, you will provide personalized, comprehensive, and compassionate care, following established nursing models such as "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage." You will also act as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers, embodying the organizations vision, mission, and values to ensure an outstanding patient experience and positive clinical outcomes. What you will do in this role: Assess the patients condition during admission and each scheduled shift, promptly identifying and reporting any changes in patient status. Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s), and ensure thorough and timely documentation of care administration in the patients medical record. - Administer prescribed medications, monitor the patient for therapeutic response, and take appropriate action in the event of an unintended response to the medication. Provide exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests, proactively anticipating patient needs, and resolving them. Educate patients, families, and caregivers about the patients medical condition, treatment plan, medications, possible side effects, and follow-up measures, ensuring complete understanding by translating complex medical terminology. What qualifications you will need: Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date (APRN) Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, or (RN) Registered Nurse, or Associate Degree, or Bachelors Degree One year of RN experience required Benefits HCA Florida St. Lucie Hospital, offers a total rewards package that supports the health, life, career and retirement of our colleagues.
