Requirements:

  • Current RN license and good standing with the State Board of Nursing.
  • Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications. NIHSS certification may be required prior to the first shift.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience as an ICU RN (most recent experience within the last year).
  • Strong critical thinking skills as well as the ability to assess, plan, coordinate, evaluate and delegate the delivery of skilled patient care.
  • Must show competency with managing ventilators, chest tubes, and proning patients.
  • Strong familiarity with assisting during intubation, central and arterial line placement, and para/thoracentesis.
  • Experience with Covid ICU protocols, CRRT and/or ECMO are a plus.

Each nurse cares for 1-2 patients while delivering holistic primary care nursing to both the patients and families. Key Accountabilities Provide direct care to critically ill patients, including those requiring ventilatory support, hemodynamic monitoring, and other forms of life support. Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and manage complex treatment protocols. Perform assessments of patients’ vital signs, condition, and symptoms, reporting changes to the healthcare team. Monitor and maintain patients’ hemodynamic stability through proper use of invasive and non-invasive techniques. Assist with procedures such as central line insertions, intubation, and tracheostomy care. Accurately document patient care activities, including assessments, interventions, and changes in patient condition in electronic health records. Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other team members to develop and implement individualized patient care plans. Provide patient and family education regarding treatment plans, care procedures, and progress. Respond to critical situations and codes (e.g., Code Blue) by performing life-saving interventions like CPR, defibrillation, and advanced airway management. Participate in daily rounds and contribute to the development of interdisciplinary care plans. Precept and support new nurses and nursing students as required. Rotating holiday (1 years) KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Utilizes the nursing process, evidence-based practice, and specific competencies to assess the physical condition and nursing needs of patients, and develops a plan of care in a collaborative practice with the patient and interprofessional team. Plans for the care needs of the patient in collaboration with the interprofessional team to provide the highest quality of care and clinical outcomes. Demonstrates clinical expertise in the provision of care in the clinical specialty assigned, and performs all functions of the professional clinical nurse (RN), which are age appropriate, developmentally sensitive, and culturally specific.
