Summary of Essential Duties:
- The Clinical Nurse II will work in the CTC clinic as a primary intake nurse in the ambulatory setting. This includes assessments, taking vital signs, height/weight, EKGs, performing 6-minute walk tests, medication review, and appropriate screening.
- Provides care and patient education on disease prevention and restorative measures
- To be trained in the infusion center, proficient IV skills a plus.
- Administration of medications and therapeutic agents vital to implement the treatment, disease prevention, or rehabilitative plan of care
- Performs skin tests, immunizations, phlebotomy and the initiation of peripheral venous access
- Plans and implements care based on observations. Implements appropriate reporting, referrals and care in accordance with standardized procedures. Initiates emergency procedures when indicated
- Provides care to special patient populations and patients with diverse cultural backgrounds
- Identifies and assesses patient safety concerns with respect to age and developmental considerations. Intervenes to provide a safe environment and evaluates efficiency of intervention for patients
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program required
- BSN preferred
License/Certification:
- Current, unrestricted California RN license required
- BLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required
- Specialty certification required or willing to obtain within one year of hire
Experience:
- A minimum of 2 years of acute care nursing experience required
- At least 2 years of experience in Med Surg or Transplant Floor preferred
