Winn Army Community Hospital is a 112-bed community hospital which will feature a new Women’s Health and Mammography Center.  Our healthcare team provides primary and specialty care for a patient population of over 70,000.  As a civilian family practice physician you will play an integral role in providing exceptional healthcare to the Soldiers and Families in our great Army and the 3rd Infantry Division. 

Key supporting specialties at Winn include OB/Gyn, general and orthopedic surgery, EENT, Psychiatry, Dermatology, and Urology.  Enjoy the benefits of a full inpatient and outpatient EMR with digital radiography.

Responsibilities

As a  Lactation Nurse you will:

 

 Provides comprehensive clinical care, health assessments, and therapeutic services for breastfeeding mothers and infants.• Manages a personal caseload, makes nursing diagnoses, develops treatment plans, and refers complex cases to physicians.

 

Develops and leads breastfeeding education for patients (antepartum to postpartum) through classes, individual consults, and educational materials.• Actively promotes breastfeeding initiatives and supports existing programs facility-wide. Manages a reference library and educational content.

 

 Plans, coordinates, and documents annual and ongoing breastfeeding education and competency activities for nursing and physician staff.• Develops staff resources and leads performance improvement projects to promote "Baby Friendly" hospital practices.

 

Oversees the activities of all staff providing breastfeeding support throughout the facility.• Manages lactation support rooms, handles patient complaints, and provides neonatal resuscitation (NRP) during emergencies.

 

Serves as a resource and liaison between departments, providers, and community services.• Leads the Breastfeeding Committee, coordinates patient referrals, and participates in conferences and publications.

 

Participates in quality improvement and research processes by identifying problems, collecting data, and analyzing clinical outcomes.• Conducts annual audits and maintains statistics on breastfeeding rates to measure the impact of interventions.
