Surgical Scrub Tech at Folsom Surgery Center

Anticipates the needs of the surgical team. Establishes and maintains sterile field during surgical procedures in the operating room. Reporting Relationship: Reports to Clinical Director/Administrator

 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

 

·         Ensures sterility of all supplies and instruments during set up of surgical procedures.

·         Assists circulating nurse and surgical team in maintaining sterile environment.

·         Assists circulating nurse in gathering necessary surgical supplies and equipment.

·         Responsible for doing sponge, needle, and instrument count pre-operatively and intra-operative with the circulating nurse. 

·         Retains all specimens to be sent to pathology, confirming source/name of specimen with surgeon.

·         Uses Standard Universal Precautions, appropriate hand hygiene, personal protective equipment, and safe practices to ensure personal safety and a safe environment.

·         Follows all equipment and safety guidelines and is responsible for knowledgeable use and care of equipment.


Required Skills:

Qualifications

 

·         One year experience as a Scrub Tech in multiple specialties or an equivalent combination of education and experience

·         Able to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations

·         General familiarity with medical terminology as it pertains to anatomy and surgical procedures for an operating room

 

Salary Range: $25.00 - $40.00/hr. Wages are determined based upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications and experience

Communicate with patients regarding scheduling and surgery times. Assist in completing anesthesia questionnaires and routing them to pre-anesthesia. Provide patients with pre-op testing instructions and timelines. Ensure all required testing results are received before surgery; escalate abnormal results. Qualifications Experience consistent with Surgical Technician responsibilities. Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Certification preferred but not required Minimum one year of direct patient care experience within the last 3 years.
