About the Job:

The Medical Assistant is responsible for performing delegated clinical and administrative functions in the care of patients, under the direct supervision of a provider and Practice Manager.

What You’ll Do:

  • Participate in patient care in person, via telephone, and telehealth under provider supervision.
  • Administer prescribed medications, treatments, immunizations, and perform point-of-care testing.
  • Collect and screen patient history and health-related information; communicate findings to providers.
  • Document care activities accurately in the medical record.
  • Assist with pre-visit preparation, including coordinating testing and patient outreach.
  • Perform administrative duties such as medical records and patient service tasks as needed.
  • Mentor and train new staff as directed.
  • Attend ongoing education programs and maintain annual competencies.
  • Adhere to safety, infection control, HIPAA, and confidentiality guidelines.
  • Maintain current certifications, including Basic Life Support.

Who You Are / Requirements:

Education:

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant Program or 3 years of experience as a Medical Assistant.
  • Preferred: Associate’s Degree.

Licensure/Certification:

  • Current BLS/CPR certification required.
  • Preferred: Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA AAMA), or ABR-OE.

Experience:

  • Previous experience in a patient-facing role required.
  • 3 years of experience required without completion of a Medical Assistant program.
  • Preferred: One year experience in a medical practice or healthcare setting; direct patient care experience strongly preferred.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of medical terminology, office workflow, EMR systems, and Windows-based applications.
  • Skilled in standard precautions, confidentiality, interpersonal communication, and time management.
  • Ability to multitask, adapt to changing environments, and work as part of a team.
