- UT Health East Texas is comprised of 10 hospitals, more than 90 clinics, nearly 7,500 employees and over 1,000 licensed inpatient beds. We provide healthcare services through our hospitals, clinics, Level 1 trauma facility, air emergency fleet and EMS service.
Responsibilities
- The Patient Logistics Coordinator RN (PLC-RN) plays a vital role in managing patient admissions across the Ardent Health system by applying clinical expertise and judgment to ensure appropriate and timely patient placement.
- This role involves conducting initial admission screenings using standardized clinical criteria to determine eligibility and alignment with hospital policies.
- The PLC-RN operates with a high level of autonomy, making independent decisions in complex clinical scenarios to optimize patient outcomes and resource utilization.
- They perform detailed triage assessments to evaluate patient acuity and prioritize admissions based on urgency and available resources, ensuring that patients are placed in the most suitable care setting.
- In addition to clinical responsibilities, the PLC-RN serves as a central coordinator, facilitating communication and collaboration among referring facilities, physicians, nursing staff, and various hospital departments.
- They work closely with hospital leadership and transfer center teams to streamline patient transitions, reduce delays, and maintain continuity of care.
- The PLC-RN also monitors and identifies systemic barriers to patient throughput, analyzes trends, and reports findings to leadership to support strategic improvements in hospital operations.
- Their role requires strong relationship-building skills, clinical insight, and the ability to navigate complex healthcare environments to ensure efficient and effective patient flow throughout the system.
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.
- Current Multi-State Licensure as an RN.
- 3 years of clinical experience in an acute care setting.
- Must be proficient in EMTALA.
- BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
Preferred Job Requirements:
- 3 years of clinical experience in ED or Critical Care.
