Schedule: 7:00 pm – 7:30 am, three 12-hour shifts, variable scheduled days
Your role with us
As a licensed practical nurse (LPN) at Salem Health you will provide safe, compassionate and evidence-based patient care by performing approved clinical skills within demonstrated competencies, closely monitoring patient conditions and promptly communicating changes to the primary nurse. The role includes thorough documentation, reinforcing patient education, maintaining a safe environment, administering medications as authorized and supporting daily living needs with a patient-centered approach. LPNs also contribute to teamwork and unit operations through flexibility, resource management, shift reporting and assisting with staff orientation and unit needs.
What you'll do
- Provides safe, compassionate patient care by performing authorized LPN skills per policy, demonstrated competency and the Salem Health LPN task list.
- Monitors, observes, and promptly reports changes in patient condition, behavior, or vital signs to the primary nurse using clear communication.
- Delivers and assists with activities of daily living while promoting patient dignity, developmental appropriateness, independence and family involvement.
- Accurately documents patient care, observations, and outcomes using approved medical terminology, electronic systems, and downtime procedures as needed.
- Administers medications as authorized and reinforces patient education during routine care and daily activities.
- Maintains a safe environment by following infection control practices, patient identification standards and proper use of equipment and lifting techniques.
- Supports unit operations and teamwork by demonstrating flexibility in assignments, assisting with resource management, floating as needed and helping orient new staff.
Required qualifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS)Certification.
- Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) License.
