The Pediatric Intensive Care unit, located on the WKS campus, is designed to meet the needs of critically ill infants, children, and adolescents. Specially trained staff have the knowledge, skills, and judgement to provide quality care to the critically ill to achieve the best possible outcome for the children we serve. We believe in family-centered care, involving the parents/family and patients in all aspects of care, including decision-making.

New employees receive 16 weeks of orientation with a designated preceptor. We offer ACLS, PALS and NRP at no cost to employees, as well as specialty differential pay. Maintaining a healthy work environment includes taking care of staff. To help balance life and work, we offer flexible scheduling.

This unit is located on the 2nd floor of the Willis Knighton Bossier Health System. The patient population consists of adult medical/surgical patients with a large population of Orthopedic patients. With our unit offering remote cardiac monitoring capability the candidate with ACLS and PALS will be our first choice. The RN and LPN staff are responsible for providing the highest level of nursing and medical management using a collaborative multidisciplinary approach. WK Pierremont Nursing Service NS-Stepdown Unit Shreveport, LA Nursing Full-Time, Day, 7A-7P Posted 02/19/2026 Req # 8657 At Willis Knighton Pierremont (WKP), our Acute Intermediate Care Unit consists of 27 beds and is located on the 7th floor. Our unit population includes cardiovascular, respiratory, surgical, ortho-neuro, and various other medical conditions. Patients admitted to this unit require intermediate care which includes critical care thinking, accurate assessment skills, and exceptional communication with providers. Our nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3, allowing the nurse to collaborate with the interdisciplinary health care delivery team, the patient and their family for a coordinated plan of care. Support staff are an intricate part of this unit and are readily available to complement the team. Orientation for new graduates includes an initial “Kick-Start” program followed by a structured 14-week preceptorship and Collaborative Skills Review. This includes two weeks of training in our Intensive Care Unit. All new graduates and nurses with one year or less experience will be enrolled in our Nurse Residency Program. Nurses with greater than one year's experience, but do not have intermediate/critical care experience, will be offered an orientation based on their experience and comfort level. ACLS is required and may be obtained free of charge once employed.
