Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY

The Student Nurse Intern (SNI) works under the direction of a Registered Nurse and in accordance to the patient/family care plan to collect patient information and provide direct patient care contributing significantly to the achievement of patient and family outcomes. As a member of the direct care team, the SNI is responsible and accountable for complete and accurate collection and recording of data, completion of routine and delegated direct patient care activities and communicating and collaborating with the Registered Nurse to prioritize workload.

When under the direct supervision of the RN, the SNI may participate in performing direct and indirect nursing care for patients. The SNI collaborates with the RN during patient assessment to develop the nursing diagnosis(s), the patient plan of care and for the evaluation of nursing interventions.

EDUCATION

For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.

Minimum Required: Currently enrolled in an Associate or Bachelor’s degree nursing program with completion of at least two semesters in ADN program or four semesters in BSN program for clinical nursing curriculum. The Student Nurse Intern role will only be available up to 90 days from the date of graduation.
