Registered Nurse (RN) Lactation Consultant

Work hours: PRN, Days 8 hours, 8:00am – 4:30pm
Department Highlights
- Level II Maternal Designation with Level III NICU
- 8 LDRPs, 5 Antepartum Rooms, 2 Operating Rooms
- 40 – 45 deliveries per month
- Small team focused on BIG teamwork!
- Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program
- BSN preferred
- One-year experience as a clinical nurse, or completion of an RN residency program.
- Lactation Consultant experience preferred
- RN – Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required
- BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
- NRP – Essential Neonatal Resuscitation Program within 90 days required
- IBCLC – Lactation Consultant certification within 24 months required
Function as expert resource on breastfeeding issues for patients, families, community, staff and physicians
- Serve as clinical expert for lactation issues based on evidence
- Produce documentation that initiates, follows and revises patient’s plan of care
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to improve care processes and promote continuity of care
- Review patient medications for potential complications associated with breastfeeding
- Assess outpatients for symptoms of jaundice and breastfeeding problems
- Participate in breast pump rental and retail sales within the Breastfeeding Resource Center
