Responsibilities*

  • Assist the surgical team during operating procedures by passing instruments, sponges and sutures to surgeons and surgical assistants.
  • Select and layout instruments for operating procedures.
  • Prepare sterile supplies for operating procedures.
  • Prepare surgical trays for operating procedures.
  • Assist nursing staff in selecting and preparing operative supplies and equipment.
  • Assist in the instruction of nursing personnel rotating through service.
  • Provide continuous coverage for all surgical procedures.
  • Participate in in-service training programs.
  • Process patient care orders using the electronic ordering system may be required in certain areas.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications*

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Completion of an accredited or military Surgical Technologist program.
  • Two years' experience as a Surgical Technologist.


Physical Requirements

  • This position requires moderate standing/walking, as well as lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring of patients.


Desired Qualifications*

  • Certification from The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)

This is a full-time (40 hr/wk) Day/Night rotator position.

Job Summary To assist surgical team at the Von Voigtlander Women?s Hospital operating rooms during operative procedures, by preparing sterile equipment for the operation and passing instruments, sponges and sutures to the operating team.
