WHAT YOU WILL DO In accordance with PPGOH medical protocols, completes appropriate review of medical history and physical assessment, promptly reporting abnormal findings to clinician. Admits and releases patients from recovery room. Educates patients on their chosen method of contraception and aftercare instructions. Performs timely and accurate charting in the electronic health record. Completes appropriate sedation assessment, starts peripheral IVs, administers moderate sedation as directed by the clinician, and monitors sedated patients intra-operatively. Coordinates surgical patient flow taking into account the physician on duty and available staff. Assists Clinician and Practice Manager in assuring the abortion services comply with Quality Assurance, Regulatory (ODH, CLIA, PPFA), and OSHA requirements. Maintains surgical services lab and patient logs. Coordinates audits, necessary patient follow-up, and completes necessary surgical service reports. Ability to receive and respond to emergency calls from abortion services patients during scheduled work hours. Gives injections, i.e. DMPA, and therapeutic medication as ordered by the clinician.
