A Brief Overview:

The RN Office nurse will assist the clinical team in conducting patient examinations, providing routine treatments, such as throat cultures and providing vaccines. The RN Office Nurse will also perform clerical duties such maintaining patient medical records and completing charge slips.

What you will do:

  • Reviews patient chart information prior to patient visit in order to schedule necessary diagnostic and/or laboratory tests. Ensures same are completed prior to appointment.
  • Escorts patients to examination rooms, obtains vital signs and other patient data, and makes patient comfortable while waiting for physician. Completes patient history and physical examination forms.
  • Assists physician during patient examinations and/or procedures by holding patient extremities, monitoring patient's condition, providing instruments as requested, completing necessary forms with information provided by physician, and the like.
  • Prepares specimens for routine urine and blood tests, conducts selected tests according to established procedures, completes reports with results, forwards same to physician, and ensures inclusion in patient medical record.
  • Prepares patients for routine tests such as EKGs, non-stress test, etc.
  • Performs procedures such as injections, venipuncture, inserting catheters, wound care, etc.
  • Communicates plan of care to patient and family regularly respecting the patient’s wishes through acknowledgment of patient/family perceptions of health and illness and mutual goal setting for optimal outcomes. Communicates patient data to physician and interdisciplinary team as indicated to achieve patient care needs.
  • Ensures examination rooms are stocked with necessary supplies in order to ensure efficient examination of patients, and orders supplies as necessary.
