About the Role: Nights - - 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) plays a vital role in delivering compassionate and high-quality care to patients within healthcare and social assistance settings. This position focuses on supporting nursing staff by providing essential daily care to patients, ensuring their comfort, safety, and dignity. The CNA is responsible for monitoring patients' health status, assisting with personal hygiene, mobility, and basic medical tasks under supervision. By fostering a supportive and empathetic environment, the CNA contributes significantly to the overall well-being and recovery of patients. This role requires a commitment to teamwork, attention to detail, and adherence to healthcare protocols to maintain a safe and effective care environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification recognized in the United States.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a state-approved CNA training program.
- Basic understanding of medical terminology and patient care techniques.
- Ability to pass a background check and meet health screening requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a healthcare or long-term care facility.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Additional certifications related to patient care or specialized populations (e.g., geriatrics, pediatrics).
Responsibilities:
- Assist patients with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Monitor and record patients' vital signs such as temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
- Support nursing staff by preparing patients for examinations and treatments.
- Ensure patient rooms and equipment are clean, organized, and safe.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to report changes in patient condition.
- Help with patient mobility including transferring, repositioning, and ambulation to prevent bedsores and promote circulation.
- Follow infection control procedures and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
Skills:
The CNA uses strong interpersonal skills daily to build trust and rapport with patients, ensuring their comfort and emotional well-being. Attention to detail is critical when monitoring vital signs and reporting any changes to nursing staff to support timely medical interventions. Physical stamina and dexterity are essential for assisting patients with mobility and personal care tasks safely. Effective communication skills facilitate collaboration with healthcare team members and clear documentation of patient information. Familiarity with healthcare protocols and infection control practices ensures a safe environment for both patients and staff.
