UHS is growing and we are seeking a full-time Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Lead in our Acute Care Surgery (encompassing trauma and emergency general surgery) Department to help with our expansion in the ACS APP services. The position will report to the UHS Trauma Manager and Trauma Medical Director. This position will train for approximately three (3) months on days. We are seeking an experienced Physician Assistant (PA), or motivated experienced critical care or surgical Nurse Practitioner (NP) with RNFA certification. The position will work at our Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City, New York.
The ACS Advanced Practice Provider (ACS APP) coordinates clinical management of acute care surgery patients throughout the continuum of care in collaboration with the attending ACS surgeon. The ACS APP collaborates with the entire interdisciplinary team ensuring continuity of high-quality care, family support, and implementation of best practices and timely provision of clinical services. As the Lead, position also will include responsibility for administrative and staff meetings, provider oversite, and scheduling. The ACS APP Lead will participate in the development of educational programs, develop, monitor, and communicate provider work schedules. Provides direct patient care through scheduled time as a provider in the ACS Department.
Minimum requirements:
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Program; current NYS license; BLS for Healthcare Provider, ACLS and PALS Provider; ATLS certification; Demonstration of clinical decision-making skills; Ability to effectively communicate with medical staff, healthcare clinicians, patients, families and the public; Strong computer skills; Ability to establish priorities and complete activities independently or with limited supervision.
