Job Duties

Job Specific Criteria

Education

Ensures that all curricula including the practice requirements meet the standards of practice for the profession, certifying bodies and regulatory agencies.

Establishes a plan and ensures a regular, systematic review of all programs, including learning outcomes, course objectives, teaching methods and materials and evaluation tools.

Conducts an annual assessment of staff identified learning needs; plans in-services and programs based on those needs.

Supervises direct nursing care, when necessary, to patients in area of expertise as part of conducting training and or evaluation of orientees.

Teaches selected classes using principles of adult learning and utilize different teaching methods including simulation activities.

Evaluates educational activities and maintains current documentation of staff participation on an annual basis.

Utilizes different documentation methods including electronic learning to provide education and the required documentation for educational activities.


Administration

Interfaces education goals with the Department and Division of Nursing overall Goals and Medical Center’s Mission and Pillars.

Assures that all orientation programs for all newly appointed nursing staff including ancillary nursing personnel meet regulatory requirements and are current with BRMC policy and procedures.

Coordinate with Human Resources and Nursing Administration for the transfer of staff, assessing their educational needs and documenting the Educational Plan.

Supervises and evaluates Education staff to meet individual goals and adherence to the Medical Cetner’s policies and procedures.

Interviews and recommends Education staff for the Department and provides orientation and professional development for Nursing Education staff.

Works collaboratively with Nursing Administration to meet the changing clinical requirements of the profession through education.

Handles the supply and equipment ordering for educational programs.

Prepare reports for internal/external agencies and departments

Write policies and procedures for the Department in conjunction with the Director.

Maintains effective working relationships with other Departments and members of the Division of Nursing to maximize educational efforts.

Works in collaboration with the Director of Nursing Education to oversee daily operations of the Nursing Education staff, ensuring appropriate workload distribution, accountability, and adherence to departmental standards.
Supports the Director in staff supervision activities including performance feedback, professional development, and competency validation to maintain effective educational services.
Assists the Director in monitoring compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and institutional education requirements, ensuring documentation and training records support survey readiness.
Collaborates with the Director to review and update educational practices, policies, and materials to align with current regulatory standards and evidence-based clinical practice.

Clinical Practice

Maintains clinical competence.

Identifies and recommends changes needed in existing polices and procedures to the appropriate person.

Ensure all training materials are based on evidenced based practice and core curricula.

Committee Responsibilities

Participates in committees assigned.


Other Duties
Performs other duties as assigned to support the overall objectives of the department and organization.

Effectively utilizes the hospital computer system as it pertains to job responsibilities and in accordance with hospital policy.

Assumes responsibility for special projects as needed e.g. grants, research.


POSITION RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to: Director, Education
Positions Supervised: Nursing Education Staff or in the absence of the Director.

Position Qualifications
Licensure/Certification
NJ RN license required.
AHA BLS and BLS Instructor Certifications required.
ACLS and IV Certifications preferred.
Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical experience required.
Minimum 2 to 5 years of management experience preferred.
Excellent organizational skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Good interpersonal skills.
Speaks, reads and writes English to the extent required by the position.

Education
Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.
Master’s degree in Nursing or health related field is required.
DNP in Nursing is preferred.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of principles of teaching the adult learner.
Clinical nursing skills and expertise.
Proficient in computer skills: MS Office 365: Word, Powerpoint, Excel
Customer Service oriented, responses should be timely, professional, caring, and respectful in accordance with Customer Service Performance expectations.
Understands and adheres to the Medical Center’s Code of Conduct
Familiar with the Medical Center’s Mission, and Pillars.

Salary commensurate with experience within posted range.
