Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) Clinic Supervisor, acting within his/her scope of practice, provides direct and indirect nursing care to assigned patients. He/she works under supervision of the Site Director or designee but is independent in the application of advanced nursing knowledge and skills. The Registered Nurse (RN) Clinic Supervisor manages complex clinical situations for which he/she is responsible and supervises both licensed and non-licensed personnel.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists the PACE/Adult Day Center Site Director in developing a plan of care based on nursing process that incorporates the plans of other disciplines and continuing care needs; includes the patient/family in developing or revising the plan of care; makes referrals to multidisciplinary support service
  • Assist the Medical Director and clinic staff in coordinating initial and periodic assessment as part of the interdisciplinary team
  • Complies with expectations to meet staffing demands based on patient care needs
  • Demonstrates understanding of age-related characteristics and needs of patients served
  • Acts as coordinator of patient care with other health care personnel
  • Performs nursing assessment using critical thinking skills
  • Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological and spiritual support to patients and families
  • Ensures that all care provided in the clinic by the clinic team conforms to accepted practice standards
  • Identifies patients' problems/needs and set priorities
  • Oversees the clinic team to ensure that all participant care needs are addressed
  • Interprets and records latest diagnostic results
  • Meets a standardized set of competencies for the specific position established by Centra and approved by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) before working independently
  • Monitors unsafe working conditions
  • Participates in the coordination of a hours care delivery for participants
  • Provides correct treatments/procedures and other care as prescribed and according to patient care standards
  • Recognizes inappropriate and/or ineffective patient care management resolves issues/problem and completes written reports
  • Handles conflict resolution opportunities in an appropriate, timely, and consistent manner
  • Ability to act as site director backup at the Adult Day Center Facility with appropriate training

Other Functions

  • May perform other duties as assigned or requested and job specification can be modified or updated at any time

Supervisory Responsibilities

This role directly supervises a varying number of clinic staff members and indirectly supervises facility certified nursing assistants

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program with a current Virginia or multistate nursing license
  • At least 2 years of nursing experience. Must have practiced nursing within the last 3 years
  • Hold a current, active, American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) course completion card.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN)
  • One (1) year of experience in supervision

Roanoke County Public Schools is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Nurse Manager for the 2026-27 school year. Position Description/Job Summary : The Nurse Manager supervises and manages the school health program and assures it is consistent with Virginia guidelines, regulations and statutes governing nursing, school health and local division policy.
