Unit Description: Inpatient Pediatrics at UVMMC is a 20-bed unit serving patients aged day 1 to 18 years and covers 24 specialties. It is the only inpatient pediatric unit in the state of Vermont and upstate New York, is part of University of Vermont Children's Hospital, and partners with the Children's Miracle Network.

On-call: Not required.

How you make a difference The Regional Nurse Educator is responsible for developing, reviewing, and implementing comprehensive training programs for nursing staff, with a focus on ensuring competence and proficiency in caring for adults with serious and persistent mental illness, substance use disorders, and chronic medical problems. This includes designing and delivering training sessions, evaluating training effectiveness, and providing ongoing support and education to nursing staff to meet the unique needs of the patient population served. The Regional Nurse Educator also collaborates with other healthcare professionals and stakeholders to ensure that nursing staff are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to deliver high-quality care in a compassionate and patient-centered manner. Key Responsibilities Develop, implement, and coordinate comprehensive educational programs for nursing staff, including orientation, ongoing curriculum needs, recertification, and continuing education programs to enhance and maintain knowledge and competencies. Ensure all nursing education programs comply with current regulatory requirements and are evidence-based. Monitor nursing staff progress in meeting educational goals, maintain training database, and assess and document staff competencies during orientation and annually.
