PeaceHealth is seeking accepting applications for a New Graduate RN - Medical Surgical in Vancouver, Washington.....

The new graduate RN will enter our 12-month which provides a comprehensive transition to proactive program offering interactive, evidence-based curriculum design to build clinical skills and competency in patient outcomes, leadership and the professional nurse role.

Our 42-bed Medical-Surgical unit provides care for a diverse patient population, with a focus on medical cases and lighter surgical needs. Med-Surg is the perfect place to gain your footing and grow into a confident, well-rounded nurse.

What you will bring:

  • A new graduate RN (or upcoming graduate) or an RN who has been licensed for less than 12 months with less than 6 months of Acute Care experience as a RN.
  • An active RN license by date of hire.
  • American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers required by date of hire.
  • Able to participate in all program activities throughout the 12-month residency period.
  • Ability to work 36 to 40 hours per week with variable shifts & shift lengths.
  • Flexible to work any day of the week as schedules rotate per union standards.
  • Willingness to sign a 2-year commitment letter (select units)

The starting salary for this full time, .9 FTE night shift opening at PeaceHealth is $50.21. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

Job Summary

Provides professional nursing direct patient care in compliance with professional practice and unit standards. Promotes a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach towards patients, families and all members of the care delivery team.

Essential Functions

  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care needs.
  • Documents patient care in the healthcare record according to established standards.

Qualifications

Education

  • Accredited School of Nursing Required: Nursing

Experience

  • Experienced RN or New Graduate RN (or equivalent education and/or experience). If new grad with fewer than 12 months of experience, the RN will participate in the Nurse Residency program.
  • Three years Preferred: acute care nursing experience.

Working Conditions

Lifting

  • Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
  • Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
  • Push/Pull: Frequently up to 45 lbs. force (i.e., WOW, medical carts).
  • Perform hands on CPR at least 20 mins using 100-125 lbs. of force (National Assoc. of EMS Physicians and AHA) Frequency should be seldom or occasionally.
  • Ability to move around area with frequent sitting.
  • Bending/ stooping/ squatting/ reaching/ kneeling frequently.
  • Lifting (non-patient) up to 20 lbs. occasionally and 5 lbs. frequently.

Environmental Conditions

  • Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
