Surgical Technologist/Scrub Tech at Synergy Surgery Center

The Surgical Technologist scrubs for surgical procedures and demonstrates competence while functioning as a member of the surgical team. Maintains a sterile field during surgical procedures.  Prepares supplies, instruments, and equipment related to these procedures. Supports the philosophy, objectives, and goals of the Surgery Center. Supports and participates in quality improvement activities.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED; completion of a Surgical Technician Program and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Certification as required by state and/or center
  • Previous experience in an ambulatory surgical center is strongly preferred
  • Must possess a strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of the surgical patient
  • Understanding of aseptic techniques and their implementation
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing conditions of the patient when needed
  • Must excel in teamwork and possess strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with staff, engage with patients, and coordinate with physicians

Pay Range: $33.00 - 40.00/hour (Wages are determined based upon a number of factors, including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications and years of experience).

Quality and Compliance: Contribute to quality improvement initiatives by identifying areas for improvement within the service line and collaborating with leadership to implement solutions. Ensure compliance with safety protocols, sterile techniques, and hospital policies, maintaining high standards of patient care and safety. Participate in the review and updating of OR policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with current best practices and regulatory requirements. Adhere to safety protocols, infection control practices, and hospital policies, including time and attendance requirements. Communication and Coordination Serve as a liaison between the surgical team and other departments to ensure seamless communication and coordination of patient care within the service line. Support the circulating nurse in maintaining and updating physician preference cards and communicating changes to the surgical team. Utilizes email and computer systems (including EHR and scheduling software) to manage staff communication, coordinate patient care, document performance, and ensure efficient workflow. Required Skills: Education: High school graduate or equivalent required. Licensure/Certification: Certification in Operating Room Technology required (unless grandfathered in under The Joint Commission [TJC] clause). Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification accredited by American Heart Association (AHA) required. Specific Job Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in the Operating Room (OR) required.
