- Responsible for meeting basic Job Standards for all Dignity Health Kern Market positions.
- Demonstrates knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status. Interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his age specific needs, and provides the care needed in the department policies and procedures. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served. Age specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards appropriate to the RN role in Bed Control.
- Performs a continuous evaluation of bed availability for Dignity Health Kern Market by obtaining information on bed availability, admissions, transfers, and utilization of resources from Admitting Departments, Unit Supervisors/Clinical Coordinators, Surgical Services, and the Nursing Staffing Office at Dignity Health Kern Market.
- Obtains complete clinical, demographic, and financial information to ensure an accurate preregistration is completed.
- Makes the determination for admissions and outpatient (observation) status placement into the acute facilities. Utilizes InterQual Severity of Illness/Intensity of Service (SI/IS) Criteria to ensure appropriate admissions and placement. Facilitates transfer to appropriate facility based on service line designation/capacity.
- Receives and provides information by effectively communicating with internal and external customers including physicians and their office staff, Admitting Departments, Unit Supervisors, Surgical Services, Emergency Services, and patient care units in a timely manner.
Job Requirements
Required
- Education level necessary to obtain required licensure and certifications
- Minimum of (3) three years currentexperience in acute and/or ManagedCare., upon hire and
- Registered Nurse: CA, upon hire
Preferred
- Bachelors Of Nursing and Utilization Management, CaseManagement, Discharge Planning, and/orAdmission experience, upon hire
