Job Summary:

The State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) provides direct patient care and assistance with daily living activities to residents in a nursing home setting. Under the supervision of licensed nursing staff, the STNA ensures the physical and emotional well-being of residents is maintained in a safe, clean, and supportive environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding.

  • Measure and record vital signs such as temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.

  • Turn, reposition, and transfer residents to prevent pressure injuries and ensure comfort.

  • Assist with mobility, ambulation, and use of assistive devices.

  • Monitor and report changes in residents’ physical or mental conditions to nursing staff.

  • Maintain residents' rooms and common areas in clean, orderly condition.

  • Adhere to infection control, safety, and resident rights protocols.

  • Accurately document care provided in accordance with facility policy.

  • Provide companionship and emotional support to residents.

  • Assist with intake and output monitoring and collection of specimens as needed.

  • Participate in care plan meetings and staff training sessions.

  • All other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED (preferred)

  • Current STNA certification in the state of Ohio

  • Previous experience in a long-term care or nursing home setting (preferred)

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team

  • Physical ability to lift, move, and support patients

 

Work Environment:

  • Long-term care/nursing home facility

  • May require standing and walking for long periods

  • Exposure to infectious diseases and bodily fluids

  • Shift work including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
