Overview
Under the supervision and/or direction of the physician or nurse performs various duties assisting with the treatment and care of patients in accordance with established standards
Responsibilities
- Responsible for escorting patients to exam rooms and preparing them for the physician visit and for performing various preliminary portions of visit such as vital signs, weight and specimen collections.
- Responsible for a full range of administrative support in a medical office setting providing duties from scheduling appointments, calling pharmacies, billing patients and verifying precertification's for chemotherapy to triaging phone calls from patients, physicians and insurance companies, while maintaining patient and business confidentiality to ensure that the needs of patient are met.
- Assists in maintaining an up-to-date electronic medical record filing system.
- Responsible for performing processing of specimens and clerical activities
- Assists in the support functions of the department and providers including, but not limited to, data entry, filing, and assisting the provider in the room during the procedure as needed.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Ability to read and write and do basic mathematical computations.
- Ability to work under pressure; able to relate to patients, hospital staff and visitors.
- Ability to perform routine repetitive duties
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Credentials
- Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in DE
- BLS – Basic Life Saving Certification
Education
- High school diploma preferred OR current high school student with CNA license (work schedule in compliance with the State of Delaware Department of Labor Regulations)
