Responsible for the daily flow of perioperative patients in the Operating Room Suite. Responsible to plan, implement, and evaluate care for surgical patients. This encompasses patient issues, staffing issues, schedule issues, and daily problem solving. Ensures staff adhere to patient safety standards, and documentation requirements according to AORN standards, recommended practices. EDUCATION:

  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program
  • BSN, preferred

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years OR Circulating experience, required
  • Critical Care nursing experience, preferred. 
  • Previous Charge Nurse experience, preferred. 

LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • MT RN licensure
  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • PALS

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Basic Nursing Principles and Procedures.
  • Principles of Asepsis.
  • AORN Guidelines for Perioperative Practice.
  • Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.

Maintains patient safety and advocacy during the surgical procedure. Verifies patient consent and surgeon orders with the surgical team and PreOp/PACU nurses. Coordinates safe and effective communication between the surgical team, anesthesia providers, surgeon and other ancillary departments. Maintains a smooth and efficient workflow in the Operating Room. Operating Room Manager - RN

SUPERVISOR: Facility Administrator EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Current Registered Nurse License Current American Heart Assn. BLS and ACLS certifications OVERALL RESPNSIBILITIES: Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the OR. Communication skills must be a strong asset. Collaborate with: Anesthesia, Material Managers, Other Department Managers, Administrator, Physicians, Physician Offices, Scheduling, Vendors, Reps, Medical Students and Residents.
