Our Wound Center is an 18-room clinic that includes 2 hyperbaric oxygen therapy chambers. The clinical wound nurse provides skilled assessments and evidenced based care for a diverse group of patients with a variety of wound needs. We are a large, fast-paced, multidisciplinary wound clinic serving the Indianapolis and surrounding areas. Our patient population includes acute and chronic wounds stemming from pressure, injury, burns, arterial or venous insufficiency, diabetes, infection, and more. 

Nursing skills gained: 

  • Skilled wound assessment and treatment utilizing a variety of techniques and modalities such as NPWT and HBOT
  • Collaboration with a multiple disciplinary team of clinicians and providers
  • Wound Ostomy, Hyperbaric and WTA Certifications

Qualifications: 

  • Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.

  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.

This includes gathering patient assessment information relating to the patient's learning and education ability, patient education and patient family education, measuring and recording vital signs, and accurately documenting the information in a timely manner in patient charts. Perform telephone triage, communicate and adjudicate physician/provider orders. Provide legible and signature authenticated documentation, as needed, of all actions taken, accurately and timely, to the patient's medical record. Perform phlebotomy, administer injections, immunizations and other special procedures demonstrating skills in the principles of infection prevention, reduction and controls appropriate for the medical setting. Provide follow-up care for patients that includes, but is not limited to: arranging diagnostic testing, specialist appointments, hospital admissions, etc. Perform Quality Assurance functions and procedures necessary to meet and maintain regulatory requirements.
