Prepares, organizes and monitors the sterile field environment under the direction of a surgeon and a registered nurse for assigned surgical cases/deliveries. Provides assistance to the surgeon/physician and registered nurse as directed. Estimated pay range for this position is $26.50 - $32.46 / hour depending on experience.

Removes all instruments from sterile drapes. · Demonstrates knowledge of proper care and handling of specialty instruments. · Establish and maintain a neutral zone when passing sharps on the sterile field to prevent exposure/injury to self and others. · Adheres to personal protective equipment protocols at all times. Wear eye protection when scrubbed at the field. · Identifies and labels all medication on back table. · Inspects sterile packages, containers, and trays for integrity prior to placing on sterile field. · Check case supplies according to surgeon’s preference list. · Maintains current CPR status and surgical technician certification. · Assists surgical services assistants with room turnover by disposing of surgical debris in biohazard bags. · Identifies specimens verbally when passing them off to the circulator. · Facilitates and monitors patient safety by providing a safe environment. · Removes and put away unused supplies and sutures after each use. · Demonstrates competence and specialize in at least 1 major service, demonstrating competency, willingness and flexibility to work in other services as needed. · Demonstrates willingness to precept as needed. · All other duties as related to job.
