Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Corrections is looking to hire a highly organized and detail-oriented Licensed Practical Nurse, PN -Corrections.  This position will be responsible for performing direct nursing care to individuals in a correctional facility.  The successful candidate shall demonstrate a valid Illinois License and good oral and written communication skills, be a self-starter, and be able to carry out nursing pursuant to the direction of medical personnel in a correctional setting.  We encourage all qualified candidates to apply!

Essential Functions

  • Makes rounds with physician to monitor and report on patients’ progress.
  • Examines, recognizes, and interprets symptoms of patients.
  • Orders medical and other supplies.
  • Prepares and administers medication within the limits of authority.

  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
