LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) Job Description: Works under direct supervision using the Nurse Practice Act, Company standards, Policies and Procedures and nursing judgment. Delivers nursing care to patients/residents requiring long-term or rehabilitative care. Assesses patients/residents and makes observations and report pertinent information related to the care of the patient/resident. Implements the patient/resident plan of care and evaluates the patient/resident response. Directs and supervises care given by other nursing personnel in selected situations. Maintains knowledge of necessary documentation requirements. Maintains knowledge of equipment set-up, maintenance and use, i.e. monitors, infusion devices, drain devices, etc. Maintains confidentiality and patient/resident rights, regarding all patient/resident personnel information. Provides patient/resident/family/caregiver education as directed. Conducts self in a professional manner in compliance with unit and facility polices. Works rotating shifts, holidays and weekends as scheduled. Initiates emergency support measure (i.e., CPR, protects patient/residents from injury). LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) Qualifications/Requirements: Current/valid Florida LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) License Previous experience in long term care preferred. Current CPR card Ability to work independently or part of a group. Effectively communicate with others. A minimum of one (1) year nursing experience in a long-term or acute care setting preferred. Implements treatment programs directed by Health Care Practitioners, administering medications, including IV therapy (if certified), and performing diagnostic tests according to established protocols and procedures. Collaborates in controlled substance counts at the beginning of each shift, adhering to safety techniques, procedures, and standard precautions while responding to codes or health emergencies within standard guidelines. Assists in medical or minor surgical procedures, implements nutrition and therapeutic diet plans, and documents nursing encounters using SOAP charting, ensuring effective communication with nursing staff, physicians, and other relevant personnel. Attends mandatory staff meetings and training sessions, demonstrating a commitment to continuous professional development and adherence to policies and procedures in providing high-quality patient care. Additional Details We are looking for a full time (40 hours a week) LPN to join our clinical team at Washtenaw County Jail. This position works 3p-11:30p. Qualifications & Requirements Education Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. Experience Prefer a minimum of one (1) year clinic experience Licenses/Certifications Have and maintain current licensure as a Licensed Practical/Licensed Vocational Nurse within the state of employment.
