Job Description
To be responsible for the daily operations of the OR desk in a manner that promotes efficient flow and patient needs. To collaborate across all surgical specialties to support team specific team leads and specialty needs. To coordinate daily with a multidisciplinary team to prioritize and initiate care for the OR patients. To act as a consultant for sharing knowledge, expertise, and information. To direct all staff on a particular shift in prioritizing needs to support effective patient care. To train desk ancillary personnel. To ensure that work area staff maintain professional behavior and appropriate phone etiquette. To adjust staffing needs based on surgical volumes and works to reduce labor as appropriate for the shift.
Qualifications
Associate's degree in Nursing or a related healthcare field and Eighteen (18) months of experience in OR/perioperative nursing required. Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a related healthcare field preferred. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required. CNOR certification preferred.
