Requirements: To be seriously considered for this role, you’ll need to have:

  • Experience: At least one year of clinical nursing and previous experience in maternal-child nursing preferred.
  • Licenses/Certification: Licensed RN in the state of Colorado. Valid Driver’s license and current automobile insurance. Reliable transportation. Current CPR and NRP certifications. CLC (Certified Lactation Counselor) required, IBCLC preferred or obtained within first 2 years of hire. 

Responsibilities: We are committed to improving the health of our community by delivering exceptional care and services. As part of the team in the Family Birth Center you will:

  • Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates breastfeeding management for patients in inpatient and outpatient settings by utilizing the nursing process.
  • Provides holistic, evidence-based breastfeeding support and care from prenatal period to weaning for women and their families. Acts as an advocate for breastfeeding as the child-feeding norm.
  • Provides support for patients, proactively suggests strategies for breastfeeding, and addresses patient issues and concerns
  • Provides outpatient care, consultation and home visits for families experiencing breastfeeding difficulties
  • Acts as a clinical expert/resource for staff on subjects related to lactation including the current standards of practice
  • Participate in the development of educational programs and assess the educational needs of health care providers.
  • Act as a liaison for support of families going through a miscarriage, stillbirth, or loss of their child.
