Job Summary:

Rio Grande Regional Medical Center is seeking to recruit a neurology nurse practitioner to join a very busy and successful employment group practice comprised of 1 neuro-endovascular surgeon, 2 neurology physicians and 1 neuro-hospitalist. The neurology nurse practitioner will be prioritized with outpatient support in order to help with patient volumes and current patient wait times as the clinic looks to serve the medical needs for the South Texas city of McAllen and surrounding Texas Valley communities.


Role Overview:

  • Expected time allocation: 75% Outpatient Clinic Support / 25% Inpatient - Hospital Rounding Support
  • Outpatient Clinic Impact:
    • Independently manage appropriate neurology follow-up and established patient visits
    • Support new patient evaluations under physician supervision
    • Reduce physician clinic burden and appointment wait times
    • Increase clinic visit capacity without expanding physician schedules
    • Improve patient access and continuity of care
  • Inpatient - Hospital Support Impact:
    • Support inpatient assessments, documentation, and care coordination
    • Facilitate timely discharges and outpatient follow-up scheduling
    • Improve continuity between inpatient and outpatient care settings

Qualified Candidates: 

  • Experience in the neurology service line is a plus, new graduate nurse practitioners are also welcome to apply.
  • Ability to obtain and/or maintain an active Texas Medical license in good standing.
