PeaceHealth St. John is now accepting applications for Emergency Department New Graduate RN's in our upcoming Nurse Residency Program at PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center in Longview, Washington. This is an exceptional opportunity for new graduate nurses to join a program designed to foster technical expertise, compassionate care and professional growth.

- Active Washington RN license by date of hire
- American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers certification by date of hire.
- Able to participate in all program activities throughout the 12-month residency period
- Ability to work a minimum of 36 hours/week, variable shifts and shift lengths and rotate per union standard
- Start dates are determined by several factors including: NCLEX (one retest attempt allowed), Licensing, relocation and department needs.

Job Summary

Essential Functions
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care needs.
- Documents patient care in the healthcare record according to established standards.
- Directs and delegates care to other team members in accordance with their education, credentials, and demonstrated competence.
- Ensures own professional effectiveness through education and professional development.
- Participates in the development of and maintains established hospital policies, procedures and objectives, quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection prevention program.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- May assist with Trauma case review in conjunction with the Trauma registrar and/or Trauma Coordinator.
Education
- Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
- Minimum two years Required: recent Emergency experience required or completion of emergency training program. Other experience may be considered. Must demonstrate independent management of cardiac, complex med/surg, pediatric, and trauma patients. Some postings may be for a training program and the following criteria will apply to those postings: Experienced or new grad RN. If new grad, the RN will also be required to participate in the Nurse Residency Program.
- Registered Nurse
- Basic Life Support
- ACLS according to Resuscitation Training Completion Requirements policy, PALS or ENPC within one year, TNCC within one year
- Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs.
- See community specific document for each Unit/Department required credentials.
- Demonstrated ability to promote positive interpersonal relationships and patient/family centered work environment.
- Able to support and interpret medical center philosophy, policy and procedures.
- Basic computer skills.
- Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
- Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
- Push/Pull: Frequently up to 45 lbs. force (i.e., WOW, medical carts).
- Perform hands on CPR at least 20 mins using 100-125 lbs. of force (National Assoc. of EMS Physicians and AHA) Frequency should be seldom or occasionally.
- Ability to move around area with frequent sitting.
- Bending/ stooping/ squatting/ reaching/ kneeling frequently.
- Lifting (non-patient) up to 20 lbs. occasionally and 5 lbs. frequently.
- Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
- Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy environment.
- Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
- Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
