LPN/ Licensed Practical Nurse Requirements:

Currently holds an active LPN license to work in New York.
CPR Certified (BLS or ALS accepted)
Meets all State and Federal requirements for US employment in a Nursing Facility
Strong patient assessment skills
Ability to communicate effectively
Demonstrated clinical competency

Five Star LPNs are expected to carry out the following tasks:

• Instruct patients and their families in proper treatment.

• Help individuals and groups take steps to improve or maintain health.

• Assess and record symptoms and/or reactions and progress in patients.

• Administer patient medications as prescribed by the treating physician.

• Assist in rehabilitation in accordance with the physician's established plan of treatment.

What You'll Be Doing The licensed practical nurse is expected to perform tasks and responsibilities within the framework of nursing services and the scope of practice in a skilled nursing facility. The LPN is part of the interprofessional team to help lead the resident and family teaching program through health teaching, health counseling, provision of supportive and restorative care, under the direction of a registered nurse or licensed clinician/provider.
