About Our Kids Center:
The Our Kids Center specializes in providing medical and psychosocial evaluations for children when there are concerns of child sexual abuse. Serving approximately 750 children in Middle Tennessee each year, Our Kids is a recognized leader in forensic medical evaluations and research in this field. The successful candidate will be an employee at Nashville General Hospital and assigned to the Our Kids Center.
 
Key Responsibilities:
•    Perform forensic medical evaluations on children and adolescents (birth to 18 years of age) with concerns of sexual abuse or assault as part of a multidisciplinary team.
•    Collaborate with law enforcement, Department of Children’s Services, and other community partners during sexual abuse investigations.
•    Write detailed reports and provide court testimony when required.
•    Adapt interactions to meet the developmental, cultural, and special needs of each child and family.
•    Provide clinical training and education on topics related to child sexual abuse to medical professionals, investigators, and community groups.
•    Participate in quality assurance activities including monthly peer review.
•    The ideal Our Kids NP candidate has strong communication skills and works well on a multidisciplinary team.
•    Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evening and weekend on-call coverage.
 
Qualifications:
 
Minimum Requirements:

  1. Education: Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program Master’s Degree required. 
  2. Licensure: Current TN Advanced Practice Nursing or Physician Assistant License.
  3. Certification: as Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP), Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Physician Assistant by national certifying body acceptable to the State of Tennessee Board of Nursing. 
  4. One (1) year recent pediatric experience and 1 year APN/PA experience with pediatric population preferred.
  5. Sexual assault examination experience preferred.
  6. Broad knowledge of family violence and child abuse issues plus knowledge of the criminal justice and child protection systems desirable. 
Other Requirements:
  • Must be up to date on all vaccinations.
