School-Based Registered Nurse (RN) | Aurora, Illinois

An opportunity for a Registered Nurse (RN) to support preschool students in a specialized early childhood educational setting is available in Dekalb, IL. This part-time, contract position spans the current school year with the potential for extension through the Extended School Year (ESY) program. The role focuses on providing skilled nursing care to young children requiring specialized medical support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver one-on-one nursing care to preschool-aged students, including respiratory management with tracheostomy and ventilator support
  • Safely accompany and care for students on bus transportation to and from the pre-kindergarten facility
  • Collaborate closely with assigned paraprofessionals, Registered Behavior Technicians (RBT), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA), or Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) who provide supervisory support
  • Document and communicate health information effectively within the school team
  • Adhere to all health and safety protocols in the educational environment

Qualifications:

  • Valid Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license is mandatory; Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) will not be considered
  • Experience with pediatric nursing, especially in early childhood or school settings, preferred
  • Ability to manage complex medical equipment, including tracheostomy and ventilator care
  • Comfortable with walking short distances between school and student homes and supporting transportation routines

Schedule and Location:

  • Part-time, 18 hours per week (Monday through Thursday, 8:20 AM to 12:45 PM; no Fridays)
  • Assignment at one school; location in Dekalb, IL
