Job Summary 

Urgent care Advanced Practitioners (Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner) provide a wide variety of clinical services including treatment of acute episodic conditions such as sore throats, colds, flu-like symptoms, cuts, sprains and minor infections. Functioning in lieu of or alongside of a physician, it is essential for an urgent care Advanced Practitioner to have excellent assessment skills in order to recognize more serious conditions and direct the patient to the emergency room for advanced care when necessary. 

 

Float within 30 miles of home center 

Job Requirements 

Education 

  • Bachelor's Degree required for Physician Assistants 

  • Master's Degree required for Nurse Practitioners 

Work Experience 

  • One (1) year of full-time experience in Emergency Medicine or One (1) year of Urgent Care setting experience required. Will consider 2 years of Family Medicine experience. 

Required Licenses/Certifications 

  • National Certification 

  • Active state medical licensure 

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities  

  • Work experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Room setting preferred 

  • Applicable office procedures including but not limited to suturing, splinting, casting etc. 

  • Preliminary reads on EKGs and X-rays required. 

  • Experience treating patients ages 6 months and up in an acute care setting required. 

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Preferred 

  • Knowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Records      

  • Ability to be attentive with strong listening skills 

  • Strong communication and customer service skills

  • Examining and treating patients 

  • Taking patients’ medical histories 

  • Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and X-rays 

  • Making diagnoses and prescribing medications 

  • Treating minor injuries that may require sutures, splints, or casting 

  • Recording progress notes for follow-up patients 

  • Educating and counseling patients 

  • Ordering and/or carrying out therapy with patients 

  • Giving vaccinations, and referring patients to additional care 

  • Each provider will work an anticipated eight (8) or twelve (12) hours per shift which will be assigned by an authorized representative of GoHealth Urgent Care 

  • All other duties as assigned
