Overview

Texas Oncology is looking for a Part-time Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team! This position will support the South Austin location at 4101 James Casey St #100 Austin, Texas 78745. This role will work three 8 hour days per week supporting a clinic with the hours of Monday - Friday 8:30am-5pm with no weekends, call, or major holidays.

This position can be a level 1, 2, or Sr based on candidate experience.

What does the Part-time Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) do?

Under minimal supervision, the Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care for patients adhering to national and company standards and guidelines for specialty regulations. Demonstrates knowledge of physiological, psychological, and developmental and age specific differences in the patient population including late adolescence, adulthood, middle age, and the elderly. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to provide for assessment and therapeutic management of patient/family needs. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Responsibilities

The essential duties and responsibilities:

Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
- Assesses patient/family needs and provides teaching and other instructional material.
Prepares and administers therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician.
- Administers all medications/blood products using correct medication/blood product, dosage/amount, route, time and technique.
- Assures pre-authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to administration of therapies where applicable.
- Facilitates dose modification by assessing patient, assessing labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications, problems and symptom management
- Performs venipuncture, accesses implanted ports and maintains central lines catheter devices.
- Maintains accurate documentation of assigned patient care and treatments provided.
- Applies knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for the Part-time Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) will have the following background and experience:

Level 1:

Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred.
RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.
0-3 years nursing experience.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Level 2 (in addition to level 1 requirements):

3-5 years nursing experience.

Level Sr (in addition to level 1 and 2 requirements):

Five years nursing experience.

What you will do in this role: · You will manage efficient flow of patients including screening, preparation for exam, providing general nursing care, and arranging or testing and admissions · You will instruct patients and families regarding medications and treatment instructions · You will maintain and review patients’ records including posting tests and examination results · You will administer medications in accordance with physician orders · You will check rooms daily for necessary supplies · You will respond to and refer incoming telephone calls (may include phone triage when needed) What Qualifications you will need: · Graduation from an accredited school of registered nursing is required · 1-3 years experience as a registered nurse is preferred · Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in accordance with state regulations · Please be sure to list current license information on your application Supporting HCA Healthcares 186 hospitals and 2,400+ sites of care, Physician Services plays a crucial role as the main entry point for patients looking for high-quality healthcare within the HCA Healthcare system.
