Set on a 36-acre campus in Commack, NY, the Gurwin Healthcare System includes the 460-bed Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, providing short-term rehabilitation and long-term skilled nursing care, memory care, respiratory and ventilator care, palliative and hospice care, social and medical adult day programs, and on-site dialysis and infusion therapy. Sharing the campus is Gurwin’s Assisted Living community (Gurwin Jewish ~ Fay J. Lindner Residences), our independent living community (Fountaingate Gardens) and Gurwin Certified and Licensed Home Care Services Agencies.

Our innovative facility and growing services offer opportunities to advance your career. We are currently seeking a Restorative CNA who will embody the passion and commitment required to deliver the ultimate care for our residents.  Prior experience as a CNA required.

Full-time day shift to be scheduled Monday through Friday 8:00am-4:15pm with working holidays.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• High School graduate preferred.  Current New York State Nursing Assistant Certification
• Prior experience in a geriatric or rehabilitation setting preferred.

REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:                                                                                                    

• Assist in ROM and group exercise programs.                                                                                   
• Help with group and individual transfer activities.                                                                    
• Offer support in group and individual ambulation classes.                                                                                
• Set-up and supervision of an appropriate client population and caseload.                       
• Maintain a level of supplies and assist in the requisition of additional supplies.                   
• Actively participates in the departmental Performance Improvement Program.                                               
• Provides input for policy and procedural review.
• Knowledge of the dementia population and dealing with related behaviors.         
• Able to recognize when a resident is in pain and takes appropriate actions.                          
• Demonstrates competency in transferring of residents and demonstrates competency in guarding techniques.
• Adheres to all aspects of customer service, some examples include the following:  working together, showing empathy, courteous communication, and respect of others.
