Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse is directly responsible and accountable for the care given to his/her assigned patients. He / She communicates with physician about changes in the patient’s clinical condition including cardiac monitoring, results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition and/or response to treatment.

A part-time Registered Nurse (RN) opportunity is available to provide specialized care for preschool-aged children in an early childhood school setting in Dekalb, IL. This contract position supports 1:1 nursing care for a student with complex medical needs including tracheostomy and ventilator support. The role involves close collaboration with paraprofessionals and requires a compassionate and skilled RN to ensure the childs health and safety throughout the school day. Key Responsibilities: Provide direct nursing care to a preschool student requiring trach and ventilator management. Accompany the student on the bus from a nearby elementary school and assist in safe transport to the preschool building. Collaborate with paraeducators, Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) for supervision and support. Monitor the students health status and respond promptly to any medical needs during school hours. Qualifications: Active and valid Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license (LPNs not eligible). Experience in pediatric nursing, especially with tracheostomy and ventilator-dependent children. Comfortable riding the bus and moving between buildings to provide care. Ability to work part-time hours: Monday through Thursday, 8:20 AM to 12:45 PM (18 hours per week). Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
