Description:
The purpose of the Intake Nurse role is to initiate and provide care to the MCI patient through the collection, review and assessment of the patient‘s medical and social information. The Intake Nurse utilizes advanced critical thinking through patient interviews and focused-assessment techniques to identify potential or actual problems in preparation for a positive patient experience at MCI. Provides education and based on the RN assessment, activates appropriate resources and interventions in preparation for the patient‘s MCI visit. Collaborates with team members, including medical records coordinators and medical team to ensure all records and information is present for visit. Demonstrates the following core competencies and behaviors: nursing process, technical skills, communication, critical thinking, interpersonal skills, flexibility, organizational skills, accountability and leadership. Demonstrates advanced verbal and written skills, good organizational skills, interpersonal skills, including the ability to review the medical records, manage time, prioritize, communicate effectively and problem solve. Estimated pay range for this position is $35.51 - $47.23 / hour depending on experience.
Qualifications:
Degrees:
- Bachelors.
- Registered Nurse.
- BSN or current BHSF RN pursuing BSN to achieve within 5 years from their date of hire.
- Candidates must demonstrate a strong clinical background with at least 3-5 years of nursing experience in these preferred specialties: Oncology, Emergency, Critical Care, Med Surge or other relevant specialty.
- Candidate must have minimum of 1-3 year(s) oncology experience OR relevant certification (may include nursing, research or other relevant professional certifications), OCN preferred.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office software, including Excel and have experience working with electronic health records, prior experience with Cerner preferred.
- Bilingual English & Spanish preferred.
- For internal applications: BHSF Mentor &/or Preceptor training required.
- For external applicants: BHSF Mentor &/or Preceptor training must be completed within one year.
