This position is based primarily through Allina's partnership with Ridgeview Medical Center. Patients in the west metro have access to cardiovascular and vascular care close to home through a partnership with Abbott Northwestern Hospital's Minneapolis Heart Institute® at Ridgeview Heart Center.

This unique partnership provides patients with one-on-one consultations with heart and vascular providers from the Minneapolis Heart Institute, including specialized imaging services at Ridgeview’s Chaska and Waconia Campuses.

Ridgeview’s Waconia Campus includes a life-saving cardiac catheterization lab — providing inpatient and outpatient diagnostic testing and interventional services.

This position will be primarily at the Ridgeview Medical Center location in Waconia where inpatient services will be provided including pre/post Cath Lab support. Outpatient care will be provided at the Ridgeview Chaska location and there are two outreach locations at the Ridgeview Lakeville Clinic in Waconia and the new Ridgeview Glencoe location. Outreach is provided 1 day a month in a rotation and so roughly 4 times a year. Weekend call is roughly 6 weekends a year at a premium rate of pay.

Provides help with all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatments and consultations as part of a Physician/Physician Assistant team in accordance with the designated specialty. Works in both inpatient and outpatient situations and can perform independently or as part of a treatment team. Serves as an educator, case manager, consultant to staff and multidisciplinary health care team.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Provides clinical care for patients
    • Completes comprehensive patient assessments.
    • Determines diagnosis and treatment of illness.
    • Orders and interprets medical diagnostics in tandem with attending physician.
    • Prescribes medications, treatments, therapy and medical equipment.
    • Conducts patient education when working to manage chronic illness or wellness care.
    • Refers for specialty care when determined.
    • Consults with physician when patient needs outside of Physician Assistant scope of practice, diagnosis or treatment plan is unclear.
  • Participates in health care team
    • Promotes communication within the team and other interdisciplinary health care staff.
    • Acts as resource to members of the team.
    • Works with primary care team for program development.
    • Acts as liaison with outside agencies as needed.
    • Collaborates with hospital staff by consulting and rounding on patients if designated by the specialty.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • Completion of accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as practicing Advanced Practice Provider preferred
  • Experience in Cardiology preferred
  • Will consider new grads with experience in Cardiology.


Licenses/Certifications

  • Licensed Physician Assistant - MN Board of Medical Practice required upon hire
  • ACLS-BLS Tier 2 - Multisource required within 180 Days
  • Certification as Physician Assistant - NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) required upon hire
  • Drug Enforcement Administration required upon hire

Pay Range

Pay Range: $55.24 to $76.43 per hour

The pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
