Job Title: Director of Nursing New Hope Manor Skilled Nursing and Rehab
Reports to: Administrator
Responsibilities:
Participates as the lead member of the facilities nursing management team. Duties include managing, planning, administrative decision making and coordinating nursing care within the facility.
Qualifications:
· Must have a current RN license in good standing
· Nursing management experience in long term care preferred but not necessary
· Ability to understand, and carry out verbal or written instructions in English
· Ability to complete assignments in a timely manner
· Ability to work flexibly and positively with intermittent interruptions
· Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of staff, families, other healthcare professionals and regulatory officials
· Ability to be available after hours to answer clinical questions
Essential Functions:
· Assure resident safety and quality of care
· Defines and maintains the standard of nursing practice within the facility
· Assist in developing policies and procedures that govern nursing services and other services under the position
· Responsible for staff performance, staff recruitment, staff retention and staff development
·Responsible for collaborating with other departments and agencies regarding resources and services for improved resident care
·Participates in meeting and committees
·Promotes positive relations with residents, staff, families and guests
· Ability to use professional and tactful appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations
· Ability to oversee and implement infection control, dietary changes, pharmaceutical services, medication management, weights, accident and incidents, skin and labs. Conduct weekly meetings to ensure that recommendations are followed up.
·Ability to pass PDPM training and Infection preventionist modules
·Participate as an active member of the Quality Assurance Committee, best practice meetings and QAPI. Prepare and present necessary reports to the Committee.
·Participate in regulatory reports and deficiency corrections
·Function as a liaison between the residents, their families, staff and public. Screen potential resident inquiries and provide feedback to the team whether able to accept and provide care
Physical Requirements:
Has the ability to safely perform movements such as pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, kneeling, reaching and lifting to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations
Work Schedule:
As assigned, including some weekends, holidays: on call for clinical support
