We provide trauma-informed psychiatric residential treatment to adolescent males who are experiencing complex emotional, behavioral, and educational difficulties. We are a 42-bed facility and our programs are specifically designed for youth with psychiatric disorders and co-occurring intellectual disabilities. We also specialize in working with young men who are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder.

Qualifications

Registered Nurse (RN) Job Requirements:

Current license to practice nursing in State of Virginia (or eligible to receive or renew)
Current CPR or BLS certification preferred (can renew as part of New Employee Orientation)
Must be at least 21 years of age at time of hire
Ability to successfully complete and pass all components of Handle With Care & Verbal De-escalation Crisis Intervention Training
Ability to use and supervise Handle With Care (HWC) techniques
Reflect behavior, attitude, and appearance appropriate to the position and be supportive of the facility and division philosophy, goals, and objectives
Effectively communicate both verbally and via written documentation

A Registered Nurse II at DBHDS is responsible for providing advanced nursing care for patients with psychiatric disorders in accordance with hospital policies and procedures, as well as nursing standards and regulations. Registered Nurses are also responsible safely implementing the use of Seclusion/Restraints including knowledge of physical/emotional risk factors of the patients served at the facility.
